The Kumquat

The Kumquat was founded by my friend Sarah Schuster and I on our shared residential floor halfway through our freshman year at Syracuse University. As students of the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, we found it odd there was no outlet for satire and took it upon ourselves to create one. Since then, The Kumquat has blossomed into the most popular comedy organization on campus, creating content regularly through social media, web articles, magazines and videos. Visit The Kumquat's website, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter for more.

I led pitch meetings, wrote content for all media, and produced, shot, and edited videos. You can watch some of the most notable ones below.

Shock Value Magaine

This video introduces a satirical magazine we actually published that made fun of the campus publication "Jerk Magazine". Here we appropriate the culture of hip, with all of its cigarette-smoking and beanie-hat-worn over-the-ears intrigue. I produced, shot and edited this video. I also wrote and played Scott Photography, a personal hero of mine.

Bid Day

This video made us campus celebrities. I wrote, produced, shot, and edited it along with another Kumquat member.

Fock

This will seem like an odd concept, but it was a parody of an app called Tock that an SU student developed to get students to “talk” more. Fock addresses a much more serious concern: porn addiction.

I’m Shmucked

This is a parody of the once beloved “I’m Shmacked” videos that glamorized the excess of college partying. I made this to give people a slightly different perspective.
